Pall Mall Office Space
Nest is proud to have collaborated once again with long‑term partner Dragonfly Contracts Ltd, supporting the full interior furnishing specification for the newly redesigned Pall Mall Office Space owned by Bruntwood SciTech. This project builds on a relationship that has extended over five years – bringing design to life across dynamic workspace environments.
Prestigious workspace in the heart of Manchester
With a prime central location on Manchester’s King Street, the Pall Mall building is a Grade II listed structure having undergone a major transformation – into a 90,000 sq ft office hub designed to serve science, tech and creative businesses. The redevelopment is part of a wider vision by Bruntwood SciTech to create a flexible, sustainable hub for work and wellbeing – a people‑centred workspace that supports productivity and balance, blending historic character with modern workplace needs.
Pall Mall’s ambitious renovation preserves the heritage of the 1960s building while integrating high‑performance building systems and premium amenities designed for wellbeing and collaboration. Within Pall Mall, work meets lifestyle, fostering wellbeing, connectivity and collaboration. Core features of the development include: co-working areas, serviced and leased offices, communal breakout spaces, a gym, wellness studio, café, secure cycle hub and repair station, outdoor piazza and panoramic roof terrace – creating a vibrant and interconnected environment for occupiers.
"Working with Nest on the project was genuinely straightforward. The team were responsive and made the whole process easy, and the furniture really lifted the space. The quality of the products speaks for itself, and it all came together beautifully. Nest made the process simple and delivered furniture that looks great in the finished space.” Dragonfly Contracts Ltd.
For Nest, the collaboration focused on supplying a comprehensive range of interior pieces that support the design intent of each space while enhancing comfort, flexibility and productivity. Nest supplied storage systems, ergonomic seating, breakout furniture, outdoor furniture and furniture for communal lounge spaces to align with the overarching concept and the functional needs of the space.
Design Intent & Experience
The interior design for Pall Mall embraced a philosophy of flexibility, wellbeing, and connectivity – creating environments that balance individual work with collaborative culture. The furniture and lighting solutions were carefully selected to respond to varying activity zones, from focused desk areas and formal meeting rooms to informal lounge areas and social spaces.
Colour considerations and material finishes were chosen to respect the building’s legacy while supporting a contemporary aesthetic befitting a future‑focused innovation hub. Natural light considerations and striking a contrast between heritage and modernity were all prioritised.
Nest’s approach was rooted in a commitment to quality, durability and adaptability, ensuring that each piece contributes not only to the visual coherence of the interiors but also to the long‑term performance of the workspace. With thoughtful specification, the furniture and lighting create a layered and engaging interior that supports diverse ways of working.
Bruntwood SciTech’s Pall Mall project, together with Dragonfly Contracts Ltd stands as a significant milestone in the regeneration of central Manchester’s commercial landscape, reinforcing the city’s position as a hub for innovation and enterprise. Nest is proud to contribute to this vision through the supply of interior solutions that complement Bruntwood SciTech’s commitment to sustainable, people‑centric design.
Areas and designs featured
The newly created workspaces and breakout zones feature purpose-chosen designs from Nest, including custom configurations of the Hay New Order storage units, Normann Copenhagen Circus Poufs, Audo Copenhagen Wing Floor Lamps and NORR11 Duke Coffee tables.
Within the on-site cafe, the Audo Copenhagen Co Dining Chairs provide stylish, supportive seating with the Hay Terrazzo Tables chosen to perfectly complement.
For the areas designed for communal lounging, the NORR11 Hippo Lounge Chairs, Hay Slit Table and GUBI Pacha Chairs provide pockets of relaxed downtime and communal gathering within the wider space. The organic, shapely forms define the areas within the open plan setting and invite users with comfort. Flos Gustave Portable Table Lamps (IP54) provide moveable lighting between desked areas and lounge spaces, transportable with ease and easily charged via USB.
For the Outdoor Paizza, Nest supplied Hay Palissade designs, Balcony Benches & Crate Tables to create seating, dining and lounge areas within the roof terrace setting. Palissade pieces were selected in iron red finish to work within the colour palette for the project and enhance the tones of the building.
Designer details continue throughout – the bathrooms across all floors feature the Muuto Framed Mirrors, Ferm Living Senti Cushions adorn sofa areas, Normann Copenhagen Bit Stools are placed in corner spaces and &Tradition Rely Counter Stools provide counter seating within breakout rooms.
Featured lighting throughout the project also include the Louis Poulsen PH 5 Mini Monochrome Pendants, and Astep 2065 Suspension Lights, along with designs from Aromas & Pholc.
